Program Funding Areas:
Many, including arts, education, human services and livability
Geographic Area Served by Grants:
Statewide
Types of Support Offered:
Depends on grant program; usually program development, modest capital projects, capacity building.
Do you fund general operating costs for non-profits? If so, under what conditions?
Depends on grant program, but most of OCF’s competitive grant programs do not fund general operating support. Advised funds often provide operating support, but they are not open to application.
Restrictions/ Limitations:
In the Community Grants program (the program to which most nonprofits apply), operating support is rare and is for a temporary need.
Application Process:
Depends on the grant program. For Community Grants, the broadest program, deadlines are January 15 and July 15 – lots of information on the website under the grants tab.
Preferred contact from potential grantees:
Phone, email, carrier pigeon – any means of communication is fine. A short email often gets the fastest response.
Is there anything else you would like to share with potential grantees?
Community foundations differ from private foundations. OCF is more complex than many of the foundations participating in ONLC – which can be confusing. So, if you have questions, that’s understandable. Just ask! I’m happy to help.
The Oregon Community Foundation continues to refine its grant process. Please review the Foundation website for changes in the process prior to submitting a grant proposal.
